The colonial fire power strength from the capital ships is not found in a full 'toe to toe' fight, rather allow the colonial capital ships combination of defensive and offensive mix to work in your favor. If you time it right, the vipers, missiles and then your capital barrage will take out front line assault enemy capital ships if not the entire enemy fleet. The Viper's (acting as probe craft to the enemy Cyclon attack units) telemetry will allow your capital ships to missile lock the enemy capital ships, then follow up the missile barrage (at least two per enemy capital ship) with salvo fire from your capital ships. You should break down your Vipers into single squadrons, keep your capital ships at a distance to starboard allowing your defensive/offensive systems like armor and guns full 180 degree field of view and fire. The Alpha strike from all (6) ships at turn 3 devastated the Cylon fleet. Nemesis not a factor, as they were engaged and destroyed before hacking became a factor.īecause of this, I really have fallen in love with the Ranger, especially with being able to stagger the launchers each turn. My fleet suffered only moderate armor damage to 2 Adamant from their engagements with the Talons. This was a total blowout victory for the Colonial side. Turn 6- Both Rangers fire final torpedos salvos, up the kilt at last Cerastes, with predictable results. Cerastes has turned to run, but has taken navigation damage. Viper squadrons engaged on Cerastes 3 have punched thru rear armor. Rangers target 3rd Cerastes with gunfire.Ĭerastes #2 destroyed. Turn 5- Fired (2)torp salvos from Rangers at Cerastes #2. One Talon destroyed, and 2nd Talon down to 20 hull. Managed to turn and evade part of salvo from 2nd Ranger. Cylons continue to fire on ships as before.Ģnd Cerastes heavily damaged by torpedo salvoes, but not destroyed. Vipers finished chewing thru lone Raider squadron and take on 3rd Cerastes. Continued concentrated fire of guns, with each division targeting a Talon. Turn 4- Rangers go into rapid fire mode with torpedo salvos on 2nd Cerastes. Talons start taking heavy damage from concentrated gunfire. Result of Alpha strike: Both Nemesis destroyed, Cerastes targeted by Alpha strike takes (4) salvos of torps in the face and blows up. Starboard Adamants fired on same Cerastes targeted by Rangers.Set turrets on each capital to engage Talons. Port Adamants fired on damaged Nemesis and Cerastes. Rangers split fire between both Nemesis and Cerastes. Set Colonial fleet to Alpha strike torpedoes. Talons bore in to fire on one starboard division Adamant. Cerastes moved in to engage Viper squadrons. Nemesis both turned & started hacking port division Ranger. Turn 3- Set fleet to full attack posture. Evasive maneuvers by my fleet caused Cylon torpedo salvo to miss.īy end of turn, all ships within identification range. Nemesis both launched torpedoes at one Adamant.īoth sets of torpedos launched from Rangers impacted closest Nemesis.Lost all frontal armor and started taking hull damage. Fired first salvo of torpedoes from Rangers at closest contact.Ĭylons continued to close. Continued to close on contacts, began dip & weave maneuvers with capital ships, split fleet into two divisions, with 1 Ranger with 2 Adamant in each, one division to port and other to starboard of contact group. Turn 2- Sent Vipers off after Raider squad (6 on 2, unhappy toasters). Turn 1- Launched all Vipers, turned ships toward Dradis contacts. The mission started with the Cylons in close and 90 degrees off the port sides of my ships, and slightly above my fleeet starting level. I understand that this was unbalanced (5100 vs 3850 FP), but was fun from my perspective. This was a random encounter, as I was moving the Daedelus group in position for another resource mission. All my ships were equipped with torpedos and Viper Mk II's. The opposing force was 2 Nemesis, 2 Talons and 3 Cerastes. Wanted to relate a skirmish I just ran into with my main fleet, consisting of 2 Rangers and 4 Adamants. I am playing this campaign on Commander level. Right now I am between Chapters 5 & 6, and have just bought the Artemis blueprints and am in the process of constructing my first four battlestars.
